What we value
International Institute for Christian Studies Evangelism "And the things you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:2)
The ultimate goal of IICS is to make disciples of men and women in the international academic community who in turn will be motivated by God's Spirit and qualified to teach others in obedience to God's Word. As professors and students in public universities around the world become integrated into fellowships and committed to Biblical Christianity, they will impact their cultures for Christ. Lordship Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Matthew 22:37)
IICS is committed to developing and articulating a clear and comprehensive worldview, shaped by the truth of Scripture and the Lordship of Christ. We will affirm Christ's Lordship by submitting every aspect of our intellectual endeavors through the grid of Scripture and by living in holy obedience to his word. Faith
"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain." (Psalm 127:1)
While God expects our best efforts of research, planning, and implementation, ultimately IICS must rest by faith on the greater work of the wise and sovereign God. We will depend on God to guide us on the largest issues and the smallest of details. We will always seek the Spirit's anointing and direction in this organization and in our personal lives. We desire to work in cooperation with the Holy Spirit and to promote revival around the world through our praying and faithfulness. Excellence "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17)
IICS can accept nothing less than the best for our Lord. Our God is a God of order and beauty. He expects our best efforts in our teaching, research and administrative service. Excellence need not entail being materially extravagant or pretentious. In IICS, Christ's name appears on everything we do. Working with IICS is not simply a job, it is a ministry. Unity "I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (John 17:23) We will affirm our oneness in the Body of Christ by operating as a Christ like community -- a team committed to loving and caring for one another as we work together in fulfilling our mission to the academic world. Administrative, clerical and overseas personnel will all work as members of the same body, exercising the same high standards of commitment and calling with missionary zeal and sacrifice.
We will affirm the unity of the Body of Christ by working as one across the wide spectrum of theological differences within the World Evangelical Fellowship Statement of Faith. Stewardship "Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf." (Proverbs 11:28)
IICS desires to maintain an organization which is faithful to God and accountable for what he gives us. We will prayerfully treat each donation as a holy gift consecrated for God's use. We are determined to not forget those who give sacrificially. IICS was not established to raise funds, but to obey Christ's command to teach the nations. We will be frugal, but not short-sighted; careful, but not miserly, trusting that God will meet all our needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We pledge to operate with prudent Spirit-led fiscal management, seeking always to balance our vision with faith and economic reality. Flexibility "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." (Isaiah 43:19)
IICS will adhere carefully to the mission God has given us, all the while maintaining a readiness to change strategy and tactics as we respond to the innovative ways in which God is moving in the world today. New opportunities will call for new methods which will be critically examined as we seek to improve our effectiveness for the Kingdom.
