1. When is the Engaging Our World Conference?
The conference begins at 1:30 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2008. The conference will end on Saturday, July 19, 2008, after the evening session.
2. Where is the Engaging Our World Conference?
The conference will take place at the Kansas City Airport Hilton hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. The hotel's address is 8801 NW 112th Street, Kansas City, MO 64153, USA. The hotel is located less than 3 miles south of Kansas City International Airport and about 3 miles north of Zona Rosa, a new outdoor shopping/entertainment area in North Kansas City. 3. What is the purpose and history of this conference?
Every year since 1993, International Institute for Christian Studies has held an annual Vision Conference. Its purpose is to impart the vision of the ministry of IICS to academicians, professionals and business leaders as well as other believers who have an interest in the role of Christianity in transforming the academy. It also seeks to encourage and refresh the IICS professors who teach in universities around the world, and to challenge individuals to be a part of transforming universities for Christ. Each IICS conference is a unique experience. It is an academic gathering with serious intellectual discourse in a worshipful environment that nourishes both hearts and minds. The content of each IICS conference is a distinctive focus on a Christian worldview fueled by a passion for Christ and broadened by a global vision.

Please send in your registration form and payment before July 8, 2008. To register after July 8, please email IICS to check on availability.
7. What does attending the Truth Under Deconstruction conference cost?
The registration fees are as follows:
- Individual: $295
- Individual - academic rate*: $245
- Individual - grad student rate**: $150
- Couple: $530
- Couple - academic rate*: $385
- Couple - grad student rate**: $290
* The Academic rate is available to any individual or married couple of which at least one person is currently teaching six hours or more
** The Grad Student rate is available to any individual or married couple of which at least one person is currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours of graduate classes
- Group rate: Groups of 5 or more people from the same university or institution will receive a 5% discount on their registration fees. Members of the group must register at the same time to receive the discount. Registrations at the group rate can not be made on-line. Contact IICS by email or at 1-800-776-4427 to register a group.

8. What is included in the registration fee?
The registration fee covers the conference program and materials, Thursday dinner, Friday lunch and dinner, and Saturday lunch and dinner.
The registration fee does not include lodging. You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations at the Kansas City Airport Hilton.
9. How do I make a reservation at the Kansas City Airport Hilton?
To receive a room at the special conference rate of $81 per night, please call the hotel at 816-891-8900 or 1-800-525-6322, and tell them you are attending the "IICS" conference. To make your reservation on-line, go to our reservations webpage with the Hilton. All reservations must be made before June 21, 2008, to guarantee that you will get a room at the conference rate.
10. How do I get to the Kansas City Airport Hilton Kansas City?
By plane: Arrive at Kansas City International Airport (MCI). Once there, you will need to catch the shuttle to the Airport Hilton. To do this, look for a courtesy phone (there is one located near every baggage claim area), push the button for the Hilton, and request that the Hilton driver pick you up. Tips to the driver are appropriate.
By car: Follow these directions to the KC Airport Hilton at 8801 NW 112th St, Kansas City, Missouri 64153:
>From North: Take Interstate 29 South to Exit #12 (112th Street). Go east on 112th Street. The hotel is on the right.

11. What amenities does the hotel have?
Each hotel room at the Kansas City Airport Hilton features 2 telephones with 2 telephone lines, data port, a large workdesk, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and coffee maker. Wireless high speed internet service is available for $10.00 per day. The hotel also has a restaurant, room service, fitness center and an indoor pool. In addition, the Hilton provides complimentary 24 hour shuttle service to and from the airport and free parking for hotel guests.
12. What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel your conference registration by contacting us at IICS, P.O. Box 12147, Overland Park, KS 66282-2147, Phone: 1-800-776-4427, or by email. There is a non-refundable $30 registration deposit per person. The remainder of your registration fee will be refunded to you after your cancellation request has been received, if the request is received on or before July 8, 2008. After July 8, 2008, no refunds will be given. Canceling hotel reservations is your responsibility.
13. What is the Friday night Global Briefing Banquet?
The IICS Global Briefing Banquet is an annual dinner which most participants agree is the highlight of the conference. Many friends of IICS from around the Kansas City area attend as well as conference attendees. This year's banquet will be held Friday, July 18, 2008, at 6:30 PM, at the Kansas City Airport Hilton (the same hotel where the conference is held). The cost to attend the dinner is included in the registration fee for the conference. An opportunity will be provided to contribute to the ministry of IICS. Those living in the Kansas City area who would like to attend only the Kansas City Global Briefing Banquet may pay $25 to attend. Please call IICS at 1-800-776-4427 to register.
14. Will there be a program for children and/or youth?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide activities for children and youth.
15. What are the "Academic Papers" mentioned in the schedule?
There are eight academic track sessions during the conference. During these sessions, attendees will be able to choose from several papers and workshops that are being presented simultaneously. Papers and workshops will be presented on various themes: Understanding and Communicating a Christian Worldview, Applying a Christian Worldview, The Role and Impact of a Christian Worldview in Specific Disciplines, and Scholars Who Came To Faith As Adults.
16. How do I submit a proposal to present a paper at the conference?
To submit a proposal, send the following items by email to IICS:
1. A 300-word abstract of your paper describing the content and relationship to the theme of the conference. Please indicate which of the 4 categories your paper falls under.
2. Your curriculum vita, including complete contact information.
The deadline for submissions is May 23, 2008. Submissions must be sent by email and acknowledgement will be made by email. Presenters will be responsible for their travel, lodging and registration expenses. For more information, go to our Call For Papers webpage.
17. How will I know if I've been selected to present a paper?
All submitted proposals will be immediately acknowledged by email as received. If your paper is selected to be presented, IICS will notify you after May 23, 2008, by email. The date and time of your presentation and other details will be communicated before the conference.
18. Who qualifies for the grad student rate and what are the special sessions for students?
The grad student rate is available to any individual or married couple of which at least one person is currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours of graduate classes. There are two breakfast meetings for graduate students only during the conference. These include a breakfast with Dr. David Naugle, Dallas Baptist University, and Dr. Teri McCarthy, IICS Writer-in-Residence, on Friday morning and a breakfast with Dr. Teri McCarthy on Saturday morning. These two breakfasts are included in the graduate student registration fee. In addition, all grad students are invited to attend "Teaching Opportunities at Overseas Universities - FAQ's" on Saturday afternoon.
There is a special session for undergraduate students called "A Call to the Academy is a Call to the Wild" on Saturday afternoon.
19. Will there be CD recordings available of the messages given at the conference?
CD's of the plenary sessions will be available for purchase after the conference is over. Please check this site in early August 2008 to find an order form for the CD's.
20. What is the weather like in Kansas City during the conference?
Weather conditions in the Kansas City area during July are generally warm (80's - 90's), but the air conditioning inside might be cool.
21. What is the dress code at the conference?
Dress for the conference is casual/business casual. Plan to bring dress clothes for the Friday night banquet.
