Dr. Daryl McCarthy, President
Dr. McCarthy received a Doctorate degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1990. He also earned a Master's (magna cum laude) from Nazarene Theological Seminary (1984), a Master's in Philosophy (magna cum laude) from Trinity International University, (1979) and a Bachelor of Theology (magna cum laude) from Kansas City College and Bible School (1974). Dr. McCarthy has given lectures at universities in many parts of the world. He has spoken at numerous colleges and presented papers at many academic conferences. His extensive international travels outside the Western world have included Russia, China, Nigeria, Albania, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Bangladesh. He has had the opportunity to speak at civic organizations and conferences in many countries as well as across the United States. In addition, Dr. McCarthy has served on the board of directors of several organizations, including the Russian-American Christian University and the International Fellowship. He has also written education curriculum, published several articles and papers, and has written and edited with Josh McDowell. Daryl and his wife Teri, reside in Lenexa, Kansas. Their son Lance taught for several years at a high school in Kansas City, Kansas. He is now founder and president of ReTouch, a real estate enhancement company. His wife, Jamie, is a home health care nurse. They have one son, Jackson, who was born in October 2006. Daryl and Teri's daughter Lana is married to Kevin Eklund. She has her own photography business specializing in weddings, and Kevin is a doctoral student at the University of Missouri. Lisa Darling, Administrative Assistant (UP) Lisa Darling joined IICS in
September 2000, as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Faculty
Recruiting. Lisa's specific duties and responsibilities include: answering the

Lisa grew up in the Kansas City area and attended Colorado State University for two years. Years later after raising her two sons, she went back to school and finished her degree in Management and Human Relations at Mid-America Nazarene University. Before working for IICS, she worked at her family's business, Darling Envelope. Lisa is actively involved in her church, where she is a Stephen Minister and involved in Crown Ministries. She has been on three short-term mission trips with her church and has enjoyed each of those trips. The activities she enjoys doing most are gardening, opening her home to friends and family members, reading, aerobics and running. Linda Funk, Director of Gift Planning (UP) Linda Funk serves as Director of Gift Planning for IICS. In this role, she counsels donors on their charitable gifts and their estate plans. Linda is a great blend - a people-person who loves connecting with individuals on a personal basis combined with an impressive breadth of knowledge in law and finances, especially in estate taxes, trust and estate law, and estate planning. She demonstrates insight and wisdom as she guides individuals in knowing how to protect their on-going financial security while at the same time supporting God's work with their gifts. Linda received her law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She graduated with honors from the National Graduate Trust School. She worked more than 20 years in the banking world, most of these as a trust officer. She was a Vice-President at Bank of America for several years. She has also served in various capacities with non-profit community organizations. In 2000 she attended CELTA-certification training for teaching English as a foreign language, and has taught at the Don Bosco Language Center in Kansas City. Linda's husband, David Funk, has a PhD in Physics and Engineering and works at the US Department of Agriculture - Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration. Linda and David served as IICS professors from 2001 to 2005 in Budapest, Hungary, teaching English and physics-related courses, respectively. They have two grown children, Michele and Ryan, who are both married. Cheri received her B.S. in Accounting from California State Polytechnic University in 1998. Prior to working at IICS, she gained most of her accounting experience as the Assistant Controller at TRC Solutions, Inc., an environmental corporation.
Cheri married her husband Brad, a high school teacher who also serves in the Navy reserves, in 2007. They have one son, Tyler. She loves cooking, baking, reading, watching movies, racquetball and softball.
Working for IICS fulfills Cheri's desire to be part of missions and overseas work. She feels extremely blessed for the opportunity God provided for her at IICS.
Joy was married in 2001, to her husband Brian McBride, an actuary for a local life insurance company. Joy grew up in the Kansas City area and
received a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management from Southwest
Missouri State University in 1995. Before working at IICS, she served with
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in Lausanne, Switzerland, for two years doing
international student ministry. Working at IICS has been a
blessing to her and a confirmation of God's leading and calling in her life.
Joy is actively involved in her church. Her favorite hobbies are travelling,
cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Teri has written numerous articles and papers and she has been a national speaker for the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course offered by the US Center for World Mission. She is also a sought-after speaker
and workshop leader at missions conferences, churches, and on college campuses.

Teri and Daryl live in Lenexa, Kansas, and have two children.
Lance, their son, and Jamie have one child, Jackson, born in October 2006. Lana, their daughter, is married to Kevin Eklund and they live in Columbia, Missouri, where Kevin is a doctoral student.

Teri. Margaret and Randy both attended Evangel University, in Springfield, Missouri. They are active in their church, Evangel Temple. Margaret has taught all ages of Christian Education and various women's Bible studies. She is now teaching 5th-6th graders, is a facilitator for Alpha, and is involved with Moms In Touch International. Margaret's hobbies are: reading, drinking coffee, and walking.

They feel blessed to be parents of two beautiful daughters. Letisha works in
the banking arena and is pursuing a history degree via long-distance education.
Michelle and her husband, Lyle, are completing their Masters
programs in Family and Marriage Counseling and Teaching English as a Second
Language, respectively. Their future plans involve overseas ministry. In January 2005 Howard and Pamela became proud grandparents with the arrival of Bryan, born to Michelle & Lyle. Their second grandchild, Landon, was born in early 2007.

His previous international experiences include undergraduate studies in London; four months work in Bamako, Mali, with war refugees from Sierra Leone and Liberia; as well as seven years in Bulgaria working with the International Mission Board, first as an English teacher, then as a church planter, and finally coordinating the IMB's work throughout the country. Later, he managed the outreach activities of the American Academy of Family Physicians to assist its 94,000 members in meeting medical humanitarian and educational needs worldwide for three years just before coming to IICS.
He has traveled extensively in over 30 different countries, is fluent in Bulgarian, and has some reading and comprehension proficiency in other South Slavic languages. As part of his international development work, he has significant experience developing interagency strategic partnerships in working with underserved communities through humanitarian relief and coordination of cross-cultural medical exchange programs.
Spencer is currently completing further postgraduate work in International Studies at the University of Kansas. He received an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1997 and a BA in Communication Studies: Mass Media in 1990 from the University of Missouri- Kansas City.
His research interests include: Balkan political history; cultural, media, and religious influences on national and ethnic identity formation; conflict and reconciliation in areas of ethnic unrest; and sustainable outreach and capacity building in underdeveloped communities.
He is a member of the American Society of Church History, Christians in Political Science, the Global Health Council, the International Communications Association, and the International Relations Council - Kansas City.
Spencer's wife, Leslie Stith, has an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell and works as a chaplain for the St. Luke's Health System in Kansas City, Missouri. They have one daughter, Emmanuelle.
Betty grew up in southeast Kansas. As an adult, she moved to Kansas City and
worked for 45 years in various banking and bookkeeping jobs, including 15 years
for Pitney Bowes and 10 years at the General Services Administration. She
retired in 1994 from GSA. Betty heard about IICS through attending a Bible Study
that was led by Teri McCarthy. Betty says that it was a blessing from God that
she met Teri and was able to volunteer for IICS.
