Application Process

  1. Fill out the Preliminary Application. Mail, email or fax it to IICS.

  2. We will review your application for overall suitability. Then you (and your spouse) will be invited to a brief interview call with an IICS representative. If there is apparent compatibility, we will invite you to complete the full Candidate Application.

  3. The full candidate application requires a significant investment of time and energy. It requires careful, transparent and prayerful responses. Thoroughness is crucial, as IICS assignments are challenging and demand the very best. This application serves as our best initial tool for determining your suitability for an IICS post and our ability to work together. Your spouse will also be expected to answer some of the questions on the full application. We consider an IICS assignment a partnership and we need to have full input from both of you.

  4. Your application will be reviewed after all materials requested are submitted. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, we will work together in scheduling an interview with you and your spouse, if married. Most interviews take place at the international office in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. In addition to the interview, you will have an opportunity to meet staff members with whom you will be working.

  5. The interview committee then makes a recommendation to the Executive Committee or Board of Directors. You are notified of their decision. We appreciate your patience as the full process can take several months.

  6. IICS works cooperatively with successful candidates to:

    • identify prayer and financial support for their projects by networking with friends, colleagues, foundations and corporations that would want to be a part of this innovative program. In some cases, IICS can obtain some amount of foundation funding for your assignment.

    • develop such critical items as a budget for your ministry project.

    • train you for your overseas assignment by attending the IICS Orientation Conference.

    • develop an appropriate benefit package and coordinate your financial affairs with your stateside bank or designated financial assistant while overseas.
